Measuring guide
At Ofelia Vintage, we understand that ensuring the fit of a piece of vintage clothing purchased online can be intimidating. We want your shopping experience with us to be as easy as possible, and for you to be confident about how the garment will fit you when it arrives in the mail. To help assist you, we have created a measuring guide to show you exactly how we measure each of our items. While knowing your own personal body measurements is an important step, we find that it is most useful to compare the measurements of a garment you are interested in to a similar piece of clothing you already own. Make sure to follow the old rule of choosing garments at least one inch bigger than your own measurements.
Please find below two diagrams detailing how we measure at Ofelia Vintage, as well as a glossary of what exactly each term means. We encourage you to use this information to find your best fit. Please email us at shopofeliavintage@gmail.com for any further questions.
Shoulder to Shoulder: Horizontal measurement of shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
Bust: Horizontal measurement from underarm to underarm, across where bust would be.
Waist: Horizontal measurement across the smallest part of the garment.
Hips: Horizontal measurement across what is usually the largest part of the garment.
Collar: Horizontal measurement of the tightest part of the garment around the neck.
Sleeve Length: Vertical, usually slightly diagonal, measurement from the shoulder seam to the cuff.
Sleeve Cuff: Horizontal measurement around the tightest part of the cuff.
Length: Vertical measurement down the entire length of the garment, usually from the shoulder seam to the hem. This measurement does not always account for a train of a dress.
